The Rev. Creighton Friedrich
Rector (lead pastor)
I’ve had the joy of serving as New Song’s pastor since May 2020. Previously I’ve served as Curate (assisting pastor) at St Peter & St Paul’s in Ottawa and at Christ Church in Plano, Texas. I’m a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. I’m married to Rachel and we enjoy eclectic music, interesting podcasts and a good cup of coffee with friends old and new.
My desire for New Song is that we delight ourselves in Jesus Christ as we treasure the Scriptures, love our neighbours wholeheartedly, and grow deeper with the help of our Anglican heritage.

Church Wardens

Mike Tweedle
Rector’s Warden & Lay Reader
Mike is a sinner, but he is learning to accept God’s grace and mercy. Born into an Anglican family, I’ve had the benefit of attending many Anglican churches as he has lived in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Barrie, with a couple of repeats in between. I am married to Monika, my wife of nearly 50 years, and we have five adult children and two grandchildren.
I have a passion for Gospel mission and I currently serve as the National Director of the Anglican Relief and Development Fund Canada.
I’m a lifelong learner of the Bible (some might say a slow learner) who wants to see others at New Song grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Victoria Rensink
People’s Warden
I feel very blessed to have grown up in a Christian home, where faith was an important part of my life from an early age. When I was nine years old, I gave my heart to Jesus, and that decision began a lifelong journey of growing in my faith, learning more about God, and discovering His faithfulness in every season of life.
Along the way, my faith has been shaped by different church traditions, each giving me a deeper appreciation for the beauty and richness of the diverse body of Christ. I am thankful to now be part of New Song, where I have the joy and privilege of using my musical gifts to worship and glorify God.
What I especially love about New Song is the warmth of our church family, our commitment to biblical truth, and our desire to share the love of Jesus with our community. Having recently retired from a career in teaching, I am excited to see how God will use the skills and experiences He has given me in His service at New Song. I look forward with gratitude and anticipation to the ways God will continue to lead, grow, and use our church family in the years ahead.

Erin Hoekstra
Deputy Warden
Growing up in Port Perry, I attended church alongside my family. My passion for learning led me to Dordt College, where I earned a B.A. in Elementary Education. Over the years, I had the privilege of teaching in both Christian private schools and the public education systems across British Columbia and Alberta. I am currently a Kindergarten teacher here in Port Perry.
Before I moved back to Port Perry I had walked away from the church. When I started attending New Song with my niece, participating in liturgical worship and structured prayer deeply enriched my Christian walk and drew me closer to the Lord. Some of the things I love most about New Song is the genuine warmth of the congregation, New Songs passion for worship and growth as a community of believers.
As I look to the future, my aspiration for our church is that we continue to step out boldly in love, serving our surrounding community and helping more people discover the transformative hope found only in Christ.
Ministry Staff

Melissa Chan-Graham
Parish Administrator
Since coming to faith later in life, I’ve felt a strong calling to serve—not just on Sundays, but in the everyday rhythms of church life. It’s a blessing to work behind the scenes, helping keep things organized and running smoothly so that ministry can flourish and others can encounter the life-giving Word of Christ.
One verse I hold close is Psalm 103:12: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” It grounds me daily, reminding me not only of my deep need for a Savior but also of God’s overwhelming love and mercy.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me in the kitchen. I have a real passion for cake decorating and cooking, it’s my creative outlet and is a unique and delicious way I can serve my family and friends. I’m excited to grow in this role and thankful to be part of what God is building here at New Song.
